ARCINSYS Lower Saxony Bremen archivial information system
The ARCINSYS Lower Saxony Bremen archivial information system (ARCINSYS Niedersachsen Bremen) is a web-based application that enables users to search for archive material in the municipal and state archives of Lower Saxony and Bremen.
From January 2020, the State Archives of Bremen will offer its users this option for location-independent and free research and ordering of archival materials in the reading room.
The following steps will bring your desired documents to our reading room:
- Open the page www.arcinsys.niedersachsen.de.
- Register once in ARCINSYS and create a user account ("Log in" at the top right).
- Select the archive in which you would like to conduct your research, i.e. Staatsarchiv Bremen, and submit a usage request for each new topic ("Request" in the menu bar).
- Please log in for each new session using the "Login" button (top right).
- ARCINSYS offers several search options, including keywords, holdings, and signatures.
- Add the documents you wish to view to your watch list and/or order them directly for a specific date in the reading room. Please note that some holdings are stored in our external repository and are only retrieved twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this case, orders must be received by 6:00 p.m. the day before. The user service will inform you accordingly if necessary.

Please note that orders for archival materials in the reading room can only be placed via ARCINSYS!
